Prior Lake vs. Sibley

Prior Lake is currently riding an 11-game winning streak, and the Lakers have won 17 of their last 18 games since an 0-3-1 stretch in January.

The Lakers battle Sibley Area in the first round, with the Warriors showing a propensity for close games and an ability to come out on top in those games. The Warriors have won twice in overtime in their last six contests, and have recorded six ties this season.

Rogers vs. St. Cloud Red

With five shutouts in its last six games, Rogers certainly has strong goaltending, further evidenced by the Royals’ allowance of just 1.76 goals-per-game this season. The Royals have not lost since Feb. 7.

Since starting the season 3-8-1, St. Cloud Red has won at a solid pace and has earned a tie with first-round opponent Rogers. St. Cloud Red enters the tournament with five wins in its last six games.

Osseo-Maple Grove Black vs. Edina Green

There may not be a team riding as hot of a streak as Osseo-Maple Grove, as the Leafbirds have won 20 consecutive games since a 4-2 loss to Chaska-Chanhassen on Jan. 5. The Leafbirds best one of the best overall records in the state at 39-4-5. One of the Leafbirds’ four losses came against state tournament participant Prior Lake.

Edina Green has three losses in its last four games, with all three defeats coming at the hands of Prior Lake. The Hornets finished as runners-up in this fall’s Gobbler Tournament. These teams faced each other on Jan. 20, with the Leafbirds escaping with a 6-5 win in a shootout.

Morris-Benson vs. Cambridge-Isanti

The final quarterfinal of the day features a pair of non-metro teams in Morris-Benson and Cambridge-Isanti. Morris-Benson has 13 losses on the season, with eight of those coming by two goals or less.

The Storm swept through region play with wins over Detroit Lakes, Alexandria, St. Michael-Albertville, and St. Cloud Red. Cambridge-Isanti has had two four-game stretches without winning a game this season, but the Bluejackets are riding a mild hot streak, having won five of their last six games.
