Moorhead vs. Stillwater Black

Moorhead enters the weekend riding a six-game winning streak, with clutch one-goal wins in that span against the Fargo Freeze, Crookston, and Roseau. The Spuds have racked up 239 goals in 39 games this season.

Stillwater Black has won 12 of its last 13 games, with the lone loss coming against Minnetonka Black in the first round of Region play. The Ponies have seven shutouts during that 13-game portion of the season.

Minnetonka Black vs. Lakeville

Should Minnetonka Black advance to either the consolation championship, third-place game, or state title game the Skippers will hit 50 games played this season. The Skippers take a three-game winning streak into the state tournament, including wins over state tourney teams Stillwater Black and Edina Green.

Outside of a 2-0 loss to Andover, Lakeville has won six of seven games while showing that the team can win close games. Lakeville scored a 2-1 win in overtime over Eagan/IGH and a 3-2 win over Rosemount on its way to the state tournament.

Andover vs. Duluth Icebreakers

Over the past 19 games, Andover has earned 17 victories, with one of the two blemishes coming against Moorhead, a fellow team competing at the state tournament. The Huskies have allowed just 50 goals this season, and have posted three shutouts in their last four contests.

Duluth has lost heartbreakingly a handful of times this season, with four of the team’s 10 losses coming in either overtime or a shootout. Duluth comes prepared to the state’s last weekend, having played four different teams in the state tourney field.

North Wright County vs. Edina Green

North Wright County has lost four times in its last eight games, but in the Riverhawks’ defense, all four losses were by a single goal. The Riverhawks have a 1-4 record against teams playing in the state tournament, with three of those losses coming against Andover.

Edina Green had a seven-game winning streak snapped in a 2-1 loss to Minnetonka Black on March 3, marking the first time in three tries the Skippers bested the Hornets. The Hornets are 37-6-3 this season.
