Moose Lake vs. Red Wing

Undefeated Moose Lake meets Red Wing in the first round of the 12B State Tournament, with the Rebels rolling to the tune of 37 wins and zero losses. The Rebels have outscored the opposition 242-29 this season while posting 19 shutouts.

Red Wing snuck into the state tournament with a 3-2 win over Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato in overtime in Region play. The Wingers are 3-0 in overtime games this season and have an overall record of 33-3.

Willmar vs. New Ulm/Sleepy Eye

Willmar has won 19 of the past 21 games, including three straight wins at the 12B American Region. The two losses in that span were by one goal each. Like Willmar, New Ulm/Sleepy Eye is also cruising, having won 16 of its last 17 games. Two of the wins came in overtime. New Ulm/Sleepy Eye and Willmar split during the regular season, each beating the other once.

Mankato vs. Cloquet

Mankato has won nine straight games and locked up a state tournament spot with a 2-1 win in overtime over New Prague. Mankato has not played Cloquet yet this season.

The Lumberjacks enter the game having won three of their past five. One of those losses was to undefeated Moose Lake, one of four losses to the Rebels this season. Playing a tough northern schedule, Cloquet should be prepared for a battle with an unknown opponent.

New Prague vs. Woodbury Royal

As one of just two 12B teams with 40 wins this season, New Prague is 4-3 in its last seven, with those there losses counting for half of the season’s total of 6. Four of New Prague’s losses have been by one goal this year, including a 1-0 defeat at the hands of quarterfinal opponent Woodbury Royal.

The Predators are the other team with 40 total wins so far, clocking in with an overall record of 41-6-2. Willmar and Red Wing, two foes from the 12B American Region, were the latest teams to defeat Woodbury Royal, which has won 13 of its last 15 games. The Predators are 8-4 in games decided by one goal this season.
