For just over an hour on Sunday afternoon, as the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints playoff game raged on the lobby television, the Woodbury Peewee AA methodically marched past Shakopee for its second straight Founder's Cup championship.
Brock Alberts and Thomas Dittrich scored in the first period to get the party started for the Predators, giving Woodbury a 2-0 lead that turned into a 3-0 lead after Logan Hensler scored in the second frame.
Up three goals and heading into the third, the barrage continued for Woodbury, as the defenders handled the Shakopee blue line like a brick wall, rarely letting the puck leave the Sabres' zone. The constant pressure kept momentum on the Predators' side, and three extra goals powered the victory. Alberts scored his second of the game, as did Dittrich, and Logan Montpetit put in the final tally.
With five goals and 12 points in four games, Woodbury defenseman Logan Hensler was selected as the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
