Roseau vs. Minnetonka (3), 1 P.M.

The second game of the day pits familiar foes in third-seeded Minnetonka (21-6-1) and Roseau (21-5-2).

The Skippers handed the Rams a resounding 8-0 defeat in November, but the Rams have gotten hot down the stretch and are riding an 11-game winning streak into the state tournament. Senior forward and Bemidji State commit Kayla Santl (46-39-85) ranks among the state's leaders in goals and points, while junior forward Kate Helgeson (24-42-66) rates third statewide.

The Rams have utilized a goaltending rotation throughout the season, with Josie Johnson, Jada Pelowski, and Justine Vonasek. Pelowski, an eighth-grader, won all three section games for the Rams and will be the starter on Thursday.

Of the six losses suffered by Minnetonka, four of them were by deficits of two goals or less, indicating that the Skippers could have entered the state tournament with two losses with an extra bounce here or there.

The Skippers return the bulk of the roster that finished with third-place hardware last season, including this year's leading scorer, senior, and Boston University commit Lacey Martin (26-20-46). Minnetonka also features two of the state's best defenders in Minnesota-bound senior, and Ms. Hockey finalist Maggie Nicholson (5-19-24) and Cornell verbal commit Rory Guilday (3-17-20). Joining Guilday in Ithaca will Skipper goaltender Brynn Dulac, whose eight shutouts put her in the top-five among the state's goalies.

Minnetonka defender Maggie Nicholson is one of five Ms. Hockey finalists for the 2019-2020 season.
