Game Two: Monticello (19-7-2) vs. Hermantown (21-3-4)

For the third time in the last four years, the Moose will take the ice at the Xcel Energy Center as the champions of Section 5A, wielding an offense that’s equaled or surpassed five goals in a game 14 times this season.

Senior forwards Jeffrey Henrikson (22-24-46) and Brian Cornelius (19-23-42) lead the team in scoring, followed by sophomore forward Wilson Dahlheimer (17-21-38). Junior goaltender Nash Wilson has posted a 20-7-1 record to go with a .919 save percentage and five shutouts this season.

Hermantown suffered back-to-back losses to conclude the regular season before steamrolling through the Section 7A playoffs en route to the Hawks’ return to the state tournament.

Four players have eclipsed 40 points this season for the Hawks, led by Mr. Hockey candidate Blake Biondi (43-45-88). Senior forward Zach Kilen racked up 42 assists in his role as facilitator, adding 24 goals for a 66 point-season. Junior defenseman and Minnesota-Duluth commit Joey Pierce provides punch from the back with 15 goals and 36 assists. He gives the Hawks’ their second-leading assister on the power play with 10 helpers.
