FINAL: Warriors 5, Hometown Hockey 3

A three-goal second period powered the 2010 Warriors to a 5-3 win over Hometown Hockey in Sunday's championship game, and no goal may have been more critical than Drew Kortan's.

After a pair of Warriors were whistled for penalties while up 3-2 late in the second period, Hometown Hockey's prospects of tying the game, and possibly taking the lead, seemed likely given the talented group. However, Kortan scooped the puck behind his net before blasting down the left side of the ice, cutting to the middle, and scoring on the short side to extend the Warrior lead to 4-2. Brayden Bois tacked on the fifth goal, also shorthanded, to cushion the Warrior lead, especially after Hometown Hockey's Maverick McKinnon pulled his team within two at 5-3.

The Warriors finished The Big One a perfect 5-0, posting four shutouts along the way. Forward Joey Cullen was selected as the 2010 Division's Most Valuable Player after scoring 12 goals and totaling 16 points. Hometown Hockey concludes the tourney with a 4-1 mark, allowing just two goals during pool play.
