Farmington vs. (1) Andover

Farmington's Madison Kadrlik scored the game-winning goal with 36 seconds left in regulation to send Farmington to its third consecutive Class 2A State Tournament.

Quarterfinal Three: Farmington (11-8-1) vs. (1) Andover (20-0)

What a long, strange trip it’s been for Farmington. After starting the season 2-5-1, the Tigers will make their third straight trip to the Xcel Energy Center after edging Section 1-2A’s No. 1 seed Lakeville South 3-2, scoring with 36 seconds remaining in regulation for the win.

Senior forward Sadie Long leads the Tigers in scoring with 20 goals and 34 points, followed by junior forward Sam Moehle (18-11-29). The Tigers also feature two of the state’s best defenders in senior Minnesota State commit Jayden Seifert (4-15-19), senior Minnesota Duluth commit, and Ms. Hockey finalist Brenna Fuhrman (5-11-16).

Farmington’s reward for turning around its season is a date with undefeated and virtually unchallenged Andover, which has outscored its 20 opponents this season 182-7. Powered primarily by Ms. Hockey finalists Peyton Hemp (33-42-75) and Gabby Krause (24-34-58), plus sophomore Ella Boerger (25-28-53), the Huskies have no shortage of scoring options. Nine players have totaled 25 points or more this season.

The defending Class 2A state champions typically play an impressive non-conference schedule, but have been hamstrung by the Coronavirus pandemic limiting the amount of travel for teams outside their conference.
