The third time’s the charm, but Osseo-Maple Grove didn’t need any luck on Sunday afternoon.
The Leafbirds earned their association’s third Big Pumpkin championship, scoring three straight times to break a 1-1 tie for a 4-1 win.
Grady Kranz opened the scoring for the Leafbirds less than two minutes into the game, giving the Leafbirds a 1-0 lead that was erased by a Keiran Jones goal five minutes later.
Wyatt Kuznik, Sammy Nelson, and Jacob Hamel scored consecutive goals to give the Leafbirds the victory.
Kuznik and Nelson were named co-Most Valuable Players for the tournament, with Nelson totaling 12 points and Kuznik notching 11.
The Leafbirds’ road to the title included wins over Roseville 12-0, Chaska/Chanhassen 6-1, and Minnetonka 6-4.
