Blaine 4, Wayzata 1

2021 Big Pumpkin White Bracket champions, the Blaine Bengals.

A gritty group of skaters and a quality goaltender?

That sounds like the traditional strengths of the Blaine Bengals.

Anthony Postudensek stopped 21 of 22 shots as the Bengals held off a late charge by Wayzata’s to capture the White Bracket championship 4-1 on Sunday morning.

In addition to Postudensek’s heroics, Blaine got two goals and an assist from Lincoln Husby, with Sam Burns and Porter Bayer adding additional scores. Christian Casady scored the lone goal of the loss for Wayzata.

Blaine rattled off three straight wins after losing to Prior Lake in overtime in heartbreaking fashion, beating Waseca 7-4 and Farmington 7-2 before Sunday’s win over the Trojans. Porter Bayer led the team in scoring with five goals and eight points, followed by Lincoln Husby (3-3-6), Sam Puder (five goals), and Grady Bautch (2-3-5).

Porter Bayer led Blaine with eight points over the weekend.
