Holy Family at Warroad, Nov. 12 (7:00 PM)

Sedona Blair, Holy Family

Hockey fans didn't have to wait long for a classic metro vs. outstate showdown as Class AA Holy Family travels up to play perennial Class A powerhouse Warroad this week. The Fire returns its top three leading scorers in junior Grayson Limke (13-15-28), junior Maddy Helmstetter (5-14-19), and senior Libby Kamp (7-18-25).

Junior defense Olivia Paidosh (nine goals) brings the two-way play to the Fire's blueline. Head Coach Randy Koeppl has one of the top goaltenders in the state as the starter in Sedona Blair. Blair recorded a GAA of 1.59 and a save percentage of .940 last year and was selected to the Team USA roster for the 2022 Under-18 Women's World Championships.

The Warriors will certainly miss the talent and scoring of Genevieve Hendrickson and the shutdown ability of Karlie Meeker from last year's squad that made it to the Class A State Tournament semifinals before falling to eventual champion Proctor/Hermantown. Warroad still has enviable firepower up front led by juniors Talya Hendrickson (17-36-53) and Kate Johnson (21-20-41), plus senior Madison Lavergne (22-21-43).

As good offensively as the Warriors may be, Warroad Head Coach's David Marvin's ace might be found in the crease where senior Kendra Nordick (19-2 record, .936 save percentage) brings poise and confidence. This game should be a real treat to watch.
