On Sunday, West Fargo perfectly embodied the nickname “Stampede,” charging past Andover for a 7-1 victory in the Orange Bracket final.
The Stampede took a 3-1 lead in the first period thanks to a pair of power-play goals by Michael Mathison and Trace Meyer. Dylan Popehn notched a goal for Andover to halve West Fargo’s lead, but Zachary Kasin scored late in the first to extend the advantage to 3-1.
From there, Tanner Elser scored twice for West Fargo, Meyer got his second goal, and Ben Likness tallied another to put the hammer down in the six-goal win.
Meyer’s two goals earned him Player of the Game honors.
