Eastview at Apple Valley, Dec. 2 (7:00 PM)

Avery Chesek, Eastview

This is a classic ISD 196/South Suburban rivalry, which should make for a spirited contest. The Lightning is a senior-laden team coming off a 3-1 win over Lakeville North. At forward, senior Avery Chesek (3-4-7), along with juniors Meghan Keating (3-2-5) and Jessica Wilhelm (2-3-5), lead the Lightning attack. Senior defense Nora Stepan (1-2-3) will be leaned upon heavily to shut the Eagles down. Eastview Head Coach Aaron Fulton will probably give senior goaltender Angie Lombardi (.923 save percentage) the start.

Meanwhile, cross-town rival Apple Valley is coming off a 2-1 loss to Moorhead. The Eagles are a relatively young team, but they possess a fair amount of firepower at forward, led by a pair of freshmen in Makayla Moran (9-8-17) and Avery Ryan (4-1-5), and junior Marie Moran (3-8-11). Freshman defense Lydia Vonderhaar (0-1-1) and 8th-grader Annabelle Cozy (3-0-3) are playing beyond their years. Head Coach Don Erdall will likely give junior goaltender Taylor Cozy (.901 save percentage) the start against the Lightning.
