This is a Big South battle between two arch-rivals in Marshall and Luverne. The Tigers are coming off a 3-1 win over Pine City. At forward, seniors Jared Reinsma (two assists) and Braxton Meyer(one goal), as well as juniors Sean Nwaiga (one assist) and Malachi Klemm (one goal), lead the Tigers' attack. Junior defenseman Corbin Beernaert will do his best to slow down Luverne's offense. Head Coach Jim Cameron Haynes will probably give sophomore goaltender Gavin Welsh (.964 save percentage) the start. 

The Cardinals are hoping to get their season off to a positive start against the Tigers. Up front, last year's leading scorer, junior Brock Behrend returns, and along with senior Zachary Kruse, leads a youthful Cardinals' attack. Sophomore defense Henry Hartquist will log big minutes for Luverne this season. Head Coach Phillip Paquette will go with sophomore Tyler Arends between the pipes, the only goaltender listed on the Luverne roster.
