Benilde-St. Margaret's at Wayzata, Dec. 8 (7:00 PM)

Tristan Sarsland, Benilde-St. Margaret's

This is a big western suburb private school versus public matchup, which could turn into a real chess match of a game against two well-coached clubs. The No. 4-2A Red Knights certainly made people take notice with their 5-3 win over Hill-Murray, only to lose to Class A powerhouse Hermantown in a 6-5 barn burner. Benilde-St. Margaret's followed that up with a 3-2 win against Eden Prairie.

The Red Knights attack is led by senior Adam Marshall (2-3-5) and a trio of sophomores in Drew Stewart (3-2-5), Michael Risteau (3-2-5), and Ben Norris (1-4-5). On the blueline, star seniors Tristan Sarsland (2-2-4), a Colorado College commit, and Brady Yakesh (1-2-3) have physically and tactically impressed. Head Coach Ken Pauly will decide between junior goaltender Brennan Chapman (.893% save percentage) and sophomore Mason McElroy (.913% save percentage).

The No. 8-2A  Trojans dominated against Moorhead in the Turkey Trot tournament only to be overwhelmed by the powerful offense of the Edina Hornets the next game. Wayzata rebounded with a 6-0 win over Duluth East. Up front, the Trojans look to senior Drew Streeter (1-3-4) to lead a younger forward group in sophomores Rhys Wallin (2-4-6), Brittan Alstead (2-0-2), and Jake Mattson (1-0-1).

Juniors Justin Lesser (1-1-2), Kasen Sauer (0-1-1), and seniors Reece Gardner (0-3-3), and Cashen Naeve (0-3-3) patrol the blue line. Wayzata Head Coach Pat O'Leary will continue to lean on junior goaltender Will Ingemann (2.67 goals-against-average).
