Albert Lea at Owatonna, Dec. 16 (7:00 PM)

Ezra Oien, Owatonna

This is a classic Big 9 Conference showdown between two clubs hoping to make some noise in the post-season.

The Tigers (4-4-1) are led at forward by seniors Esther Yoon (4 goals, 2 assists, 6 points) and Lucy Stay (2-3-5), as well as freshman Shelby Evans (3-1-4). On defense, 7th grader Morgan Goskeson (7-1-8) and freshman Mika Cichosz (2-4-6) help give the Tigers plenty of offensive punch from its blueline. Albert Lea head coach Mark Goskeson has leaned heavily on sophomore goaltender Rachel Doppelhammer (..867 save percentage) for all of their games this season.

The Huskies are coming off a tough 6-1 loss to Rosemount and hope to rebound against Albert Lea. Owatonna (6-1) is led up front by junior Ezra Oien (3-10-13), sophomore Samantha Bogen (7-2-9), and senior Olivia Herzog (4-3-7) give the Huskies plenty of scoring. The Huskies look to juniors Sarah Snitker (1-5-6) and Abby Vetsch (0-5-5) to shut opponents down on defense. Huskies' head coach Tony Cloud will probably go with senior goaltender Ava Wolfe (2.17 goals-against-average) against the Tigers.
