Andover at Cretin-Derham Hall, Dec. 28 (5:00 PM)

Cayden Casey, Andover

Here is a great clash at the Bloomington Ice Garden between two teams who believe they are contenders for a state championship in #4 ranked Andover and #1 ranked Cretin-Derham Hall.

For Andover, the Huskies rolling with the momentum of a 4-0 win over Northwest Suburban rival Blaine. Up front, the Huskies are led at forward by a trio of juniors Gavyn Thoreson (8-15-23), Elk River-transfer Cayden Casey (7-13-20), and Colorado College commit Cooper Conway (6-7-13).

On defense, seniors Weston Knox (0-11-11) and Kyle Law (5-6-11) chip in at both ends of the ice. Andover head coach Mark Manney will most likely give senior goaltender Austin Brauns (.932 save percentage) the start against the Raiders.

Cretin-Derham Hall is coming off a 4-2 win over #1 ranked (Class A) Hermantown, but they are still in need of a statement win over another top-notch Class AA program.

The Raider attack is led by senior Drew Fisher (7-7-14), as well as juniors Jake Fisher (5-7-12, Northern Michigan commit) and Attila Lippai (4-7-11). Senior defenseman Zach Sondreal (3-4-7) and junior Simon Houge(1-6-7) help the Raiders transition quickly from defense to offense.

The Raiders' penalty kill has been stifling, operating at 94.6% this season. Cretin-Derham Hall head coach Matt Funk will likely give senior goaltender Marko Belak (.919 save percentage) the start against Andover.
