Duluth Denfeld at Hermantown, Jan. 4 (7:00 PM)

Connor McClure, Duluth Denfeld

Can any team in Section 7A take down Hermantown?

That is the question that might be on some minds during this Lake Superior Conference showdown. Duluth Denfeld is led up front by senior Connor McClure (15-13-28), junior Andy Larson (13-13-26), and senior playmaker Simon Davidson (5-18-23).

On defense, the Hunters look to senior Nate Larson (2-5-7) and sophomore Brady McGinn (1-6-7). Duluth Denfeld head coach Dale Jago will likely go to senior goaltender Austin Wick (2.67 goals-against-average) to start against the Hawks.

Hermantown is coming off a 6-2 win over Delano. The Hawks continue to play like a contender and up front sophomore Max Plante (1-14-15) and juniors Kade Kohanski (6-8-14) and Wyatt Carlson (7-2-9). On defense, junior and Minnesota-Duluth commit Ty Hanson (6-8-14), and senior Beau Janzig (2-4-6) help keep Hermantown on the attack with one of the best transition games in Class A.

Hermantown head coach Patrick Andrews will probably go with sophomore goaltender Dane Callaway (1.17 goals-against-average) but he could also give junior Garron Opsahl (.826 save percentage) a start.
