Worthington at Marshall, Jan. 4 (5:30 PM)

This is a clash of two Big South Conference clubs as Worthington hopes to knock off 4th place Marshall in this early evening tilt. The Trojans are coming off a 12-2 drubbing at the hands of Mankato East.

Worthington is led at forward by senior Kessey Aljets (15 goals, 4 assists, 19 points) and junior Riley Nickel (4-6-10). On defense, senior MaKenna Nickel (2-4-6) and junior Cadence Van Ede (1-2-3) do what they can to limit scoring chances.

Worthington head coach Chad Nickel has given junior goaltender Lillyan Newman (.856 save percentage) the lion's share of starts this season.

Marshall is coming off a 5-1 loss to arch-rival Luverne in a game played at St. Paul's Tria rink last week. That was their second loss to the Cardinals, who sit in first place in the Big South this season.

The Tigers are led up front by seniors Leah Schaefer (14-5-19) and Tessa Gannott (7-6-13), and junior Kalyn DeVlieger (4-5-9). On defense, seniors Shelby Ormberg (1-3-4) and sophomore Olivia Penske (1-3-4) log the most minutes for the Tigers.

Marshall head coach Cassi Weiss has given freshman goaltender Belle Deutz (.925 save percentage) all of the starts this season. Still, she might also turn to sophomore Paige Christianson (.857 save percentage).
