Stillwater at Forest Lake, Jan. 6 (7:00 PM)

Myrah Krueger, Stillwater

Stillwater went 1-2 at the Blake/Breck tournament over the holidays, falling to Gentry Academy and Holy Family, but earning an impressive 3-0 victory over a tough Centennial/Spring Lake Park squad.

Stillwater is led at forward by sophomores Josie St. Martin (10-4-14), Addy Finn (5-4-9), and Myah Krueger (2-5-7). On defense, sophomores Alexa March (1-6-7) and junior Kylie Ligday (1-5-6) effectively disrupt the opposition's skaters.

Stillwater head coach Mira Jalosuo has split starts between sophomore goaltender Lily Timmons (.913 save percentage) and junior Maya Hanlon (1.50 goals-against-average) this season.

Forest Lake is coming off a third-place finish at the Mid-Winter Border Battle Tournament in Blaine, where the Rangers prevailed against conference foe White Bear Lake and cross-over opponent Anoka but fell to tournament champion Lakeville South.

Forest Lake's attack is led by junior Malia McKinnon (5-8-13) and seniors Sammie Hayek (3-7-10), and Hannah Melander (5-3-8). On defense, sophomore Sami Pool (9-7-16) is a big reason the Rangers' power play connects at a 26.2% rate, as her point shot is accurate and gets through traffic effectively.

Rangers head coach Andrew Richardson has given senior goaltender Donelle Decker (2.41 goals-against-average) most of the starts this season.
