Class AA

Isa Goettl (12) scored two goals as No. 1-2A Andover edged Hill-Murray 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.

1. Andover (17-0)

The Huskies topped Maple Grove, Stillwater, and Hill-Murray over the week to run their record to 17-0. The Huskies will take on Blaine and Edina this week, with the second matchup as part of Hockey Day Minnesota 2022 in Mankato.

2. Edina (16-1)

The Hornets avenged the loss to Minnetonka in the Walser Invite semifinals with a 2-1 win over the Skippers on Saturday, running their winning streak to six games.

Up next, the Hornets will host No. 2-1A Proctor/Hermantown and Cretin-Derham Hall before the Hockey Day matchup with top-ranked Andover.

3. Minnetonka (14-4)

While now having lost twice in their last three games, Minnetonka still sits as one of the elite teams in Class 2A.

The Skippers’ loss to Edina, preceded by a victory over Wayzata, is the fourth loss by a single goal of the Skippers’ season.

4. Holy Family (14-3-1)

Since the last batch of rankings, the Fire picked up a pair of victories, defeating Gentry Academy 4-2 and Centennial /Spring Lake Park 5-1. Wright County Conference rival Hutchinson is on deck for this week, as is No. 8-2A Blake.

5. Benilde-St. Margaret’s (10-5-1)

Wins over Blake and Holy Angels last week gave the Red Knights seven wins in their previous eight games, an impressive run through the middle part of the season.

The Red Knights will face Blake and Minneapolis this week and will look to continue their trend of solid defense. BSM has allowed just 46 shots on goal in its last four games - all wins.

6. Maple Grove (11-5-2)

The Crimson lost to top-ranked Andover 2-1 in overtime last week, then bounced back with a 4-1 win over Osseo/Park Center with three goals in the third period.

It’s all Northwest Suburban Conference opponents this week for the Crimson, with Centennial/Spring Lake Park, Elk River/Zimmerman, and Blaine on the docket.

7. Lakeville South (17-1)

The Cougars increased their lead in the South Suburban Conference lead last week, picking up wins over Farmington and former No. 10-2A Rosemount.

Forward Ryann Wright added three assists in the wins over the Tigers and Irish, bringing her season total to 32, tied for fourth in the state.

8. Blake (9-6)

The Bears lost to Benilde-St. Margaret’s in their lone game of the week, and will look to get back on track against Simley, No. 10-2A Wayzata, and No. 4-2A Holy Family in the coming days. All three games will be played away from the friendly confines of The Blake School’s Lower Campus.

9. Rogers (13-4-2)

The Royals stand pat at No. 9 this week after a 4-3 overtime win over Elk River/Zimmerman and a 1-0 win over North Wright County, which has proven to be a thorn in the side of ranked teams this season.

Osseo/Park Center and Buffalo are up next for the Royals, who have had eight games this year decided by a single goal.

10. Wayzata (12-6-1)

With Rosemount bowing out of the top-10, the Trojans move into the rankings.

Although the Trojans had a four-game winning streak snapped in a one-goal loss to Minnetonka on enemy ice, they have a chance to beef up their resume if they can pick up wins over North Wright County and No. 8-2A Blake this week.

Avery Farrell scored in overtime to give Rogers a 4-3 victory over Elk River/Zimmerman on Jan. 11, then scored the lone goal of the Royals' 1-0 win over North Wright County three days later.

Class A

Grace Clements and the Holy Angels Stars come in at No. 5 in Class 1A this week.

1. Warroad (15-2-1)

The wins continue to pile up for Warroad, as the Warriors picked up back-to-back shutouts over rival Roseau and Brainerd/Little Falls last week.

The Warriors will host Thief River Falls and Moorhead in their upcoming games and make a trek to No. 1-2A Andover on Jan. 27 to prepare for the postseason.

2. Proctor/Hermantown (13-4-1)

The Mirage thumped Chisago Lakes, Hibbing/Chisholm, and Breck by a combined score of 23-1 last week, further shaking off the cobwebs that plagued it earlier in the season.

Izy Fairchild racked up four goals and five points against the Bluejackets, giving her a team-leading 18 goals so far this season.

3. Orono (14-2)

The Spartans put Bloomington Jefferson into running time in a 9-2 win before edging Chaska/Chanhassen 3-1 to cap the week at 2-0.

The Spartans are on the road for their next two games, traveling to Eastview and then Richfield for a bout with No. 5-1A Holy Angels on Thursday.

4. Mound Westonka (14-4)

It’s safe to say Mound Westonka has moved past the 6-1 loss suffered at the hands of No. 4-2A Holy Family on Jan. 6, as the Whitehawks earned their third straight win since the loss on Saturday.

In their two games last week, the Whitehawks thumped Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato 10-1 before blanking Pine City 4-0.

Delano/Rockford, St. Cloud, and Simley all loom on the schedule for this week.

5. Holy Angels (14-3-1)

The Stars move into the rankings after giving No. 5-2A Benilde-St. Margaret’s a scare in a 3-2 loss on Saturday. Holy Angels goaltender Celeste Rimstad earns a special mention for the game against BSM, stopping 47 of 50 shots while holding the Red Knights off the scoreboard for two periods before the dam broke in the third.

The Stars will play Visitation on the road at St. Thomas Ice Arena on Tuesday before hosting No. 3-1A Orono on Thursday. The Stars will then travel to Chaska to take on Chaska/Chanhassen on Saturday to round out a busy week.

Izy Fairchild scored four goals in Proctor/Hermantown's win over Hibbing/Chisholm. Fairchild leads the Mirage in scoring with 18 goals this season.
