Centennial at Elk River/Zimmerman, Jan. 20 (7:00 PM)

Over the years, Centennial and Elk River have had plenty of spirited battles as they try to claw their way near the top of the Northwest Suburban Conference.

The Cougars are coming off a 10-2 demolition of Coon Rapids. Centennial's attack is led by seniors Owen Van Tassel (15-16-31), junior Peyton Blair (12-19-31), and sophomore Harper Searles (14-17-31) give the Cougars excellent scoring depth.

On defense, senior Jacob Hoylo (2-18-20) and Matt Everson (1-11-12) may not put up a lot of points. Still, they allow the Cougars to transition quickly from defense to offense.

The Cougars will likely give senior goaltender Jack Fuller (1.71 goals-against-average) the start against the Elks.

Elk River/Zimmerman hopes to rally back after a 3-1 loss to rival No. 7-2A Maple Grove last week. Elk River is coming off an 8-1 win over 7AA Cloquet-Esko-Carlton. The Elks look to seniors Blake Johnson (17-18-35), Andrew Foss (12-13-25), and Blaise Schutt (11-12-23) to lead the way offensively.

Junior Carter Davis (5-14-19) and senior Jackson Skyberg (5-11-16) give the Elks some firepower from the back end.

Between the pipes, sophomore goaltender Sam Stockman (2.24 goals-against-average) has carried most of the goaltending load for the Elks this season.
