Prior Lake vs. East Grand Forks, Jan. 22 (1:00 PM)

Alex Bump, Prior Lake

It may not have been the battle of top-ranked teams in Class 1A and Class 2A, respectively, but the teams will still be on the big stage at Blakeslee Field in Mankato as the featured high school game as part of Hockey Day Minnesota.

The Lakers are coming off an 11-0 rout of Burnsville on Saturday. Prior Lake is led by seniors, Vermont commit Alex Bump (17-14-31, ranked No. 69 by NHL Central Scouting among North American skaters) and Sam Rice (3-6-9). The Lakers employ a score-by-committee approach after that.

On defense, the Lakers look to senior Jackson Anderson (4-8-12) and Justin Simonson (2-5-7) log many minutes and provide stability to the back end.

Between the pipes, senior goaltender Trevor Boschee (2.48 goals-against-average) has carried most of the goaltending workload this season. Don't be surprised if junior Ben Mickett (.859 save percentage) gets a chance to play as well, as teams at Hockey Day Minnesota have at times switched goalies so they can share in the experience.

This has been a challenging season for the Green Wave, and they are coming off a 5-0 loss to Fargo Davies. East Grand Forks is led by junior North Dakota commit Jaksen Panzer (17-15-32), with talented sophomores Grady Magner (6-9-15) and Brock Schultz (5-10-15) offering supplemental scoring.

On defense, junior Sam Frost (2-8-10) and senior Justin Overgaard (2-7-9) will be tasked with trying to slow down the Lakers' attack.

In the crease, the Green Wave has split starts between sophomores Lucas Wavra (.821 save percentage) and Chase Mero (.838 save percentage), meaning it will likely be a game-time decision as to who gets that opportunity.
