Edina Green, Squirtacular Bronze Division champions.
I guess you could say the Edina Green Squirt B2 team went out with a...bang.
A Colton Bang, to be exact.
In Sunday's championship shootout, the Bronze Division's Most Valuable Player scored the game-winning goal, converting a backhand attempt to lift Edina Green to a 4-3 win over Edina White.
Edina White took a 2-0 lead after the first period on goals by John Machulas and Jackson Wahl, but Edina Green stopped the bleeding with a goal of its own in the second period by Cal Groat. Groat scored again in the third to tie the game 2-2, and Crosby Pote put Edina Green ahead 3-2 with 5:28 to play in regulation.
However, Edina White's Emmett McNaughton tallied a tying score less than a minute later, sending the game into overtime and its subsequent shootout and leading to the heroics of Bang and Edina Green goaltender Davin Winkel.
