Warroad at Andover, Jan. 27 (4:30 PM)

Lila Lanctot, Warroad

What an unbelievable playoffs primer as the top team in Class A, top-ranked Warroad makes the trip down to the Twin Cities take on the top team in Class AA in No. 1-AA Andover. It should be noted the Huskies play another top-rated Class A team in No. 4-A Proctor/Hermantown the next night after this showdown.

The Warriors are coming off a 3-2 victory against Moorhead. Warroad is led up front by the potent 1-2 punch of junior and Franklin Pierce commit Talya Hendrickson (22-37-59) and senior Kate Johnson (32-27-59). These two are a big reason the Warriors' power play operates at a 35.6% success rate.

On defense, juniors Lila Lanctot (12-12-24) and Abby Chamernick (9-19-28) log big minutes for the Warriors, and both players like to join the offensive attack.

The Warriors will likely give senior goaltender Kendra Nordick (.930 save percentage) the start against the Huskies.

Andover is hoping to build momentum from their 4-0 win over No. 2-AA Edina on Hockey Day Minnesota. The Huskies' attack is led by a trio of juniors. Two are St. Thomas commits in Ella Boerger (21-23-44) and Madison Brown (12-21-33), as well as the uncommitted (for now) Isa Goettl (15-15-30).

On defense, sophomore Cailin Mumm (3-11-14) and freshman Avery Kasick (3-9-12) may not generate a lot of offense, but they neutralize opponents effectively and run an efficient breakout.

Andover will give junior goaltender Courtney Stagman (1.11 goals-against-average) the start against Warroad.
