Carson Triggs, Moorhead
This is an intriguing Mariucci Conference battle as No. 8-AA Moorhead travels north to play No. 2-A Warroad.
The Spuds are coming off a nail-biting 3-2 overtime victory against Duluth East. Moorhead is led up front by junior Harper Bentz (25-20-45) as well as seniors Gavin Lindberg (15-31-45) and Carson Triggs (14-22-36) give the Spuds plenty of offensive punch.
On defense, juniors, Nebraska-Omaha commit Joe Gramer (2-12-14), and Joe Schiller (2-10-12) are outstanding puck movers and help Moorhead transition quickly from defense to offense.
In the crease, sophomore goaltender Kai Weigel (2.60 goals-against-average) has had the majority of the starts this season for the Spuds.
The Warriors are coming off a 3-0 loss to Wayzata. Warroad is led by one of the most dynamic duos in the state in senior Clarkson commit Daimon Gardner (31-24-55, #101 NHL Central Scouting) and junior and Minnesota-Duluth commit Jayson Shaugabay (13-37-50).
On the blueline, senior Carson Reed (5-18-23) and junior Eric Comstock (1-20-21) log a lot of minutes for the Warriors and do a great job breaking up rushes and allowing Warroad's plethora of speedy forwards to go on the attack.
Between the pipes, junior goaltender Hampton Slukynsky (1.05 goals-against-average) has been outstanding all season long for Warroad.
