Andover at Grand Rapids (Feb. 8, 7:00 PM)

Weston Knox, Andover

This late-season battle will determine who the top seed in 7AA will be between No. 5-AA Andover or Grand Rapids. These two teams have not played each other yet this season, but this could very well be a preview of the section championship.

Andover is riding a three-game winning streak, punctuated by a 4-1 victory over conference rival Centennial on Saturday that sewed up a Northwest Suburban Conference championship for the Huskies. The Huskies are led up front by the 1-2 punch of juniors in Cayden Casey (17 goals, 33 assists, 50 points) and Gavyn Thoreson (18-30-48).

On the blueline, seniors Weston Knox (4-21-25, #218 by NHL Central Scouting) and Kyle Law (9-10-19) give Andover plenty of skill on the back end, which helps give the Huskies a power play that lights the lamp at a 22.9% rate.

In the crease, senior goaltender Austin Brauns (1.72 goals-against average) has carried most of the starts this season for the Huskies.

Grand Rapids is hoping to ride the momentum of a 5-3 victory over No. 4-AA Wayzata is the kind of statement game that marks this team as a true contender for a state title, let alone the top seed in 7AA.

The Thunderhawks are led at forward by seniors Joey DelGreco (24-36-60), Garrett Drotts (21-22-43), and Kaden Nelson (18-25-43), who are the most prolific top line in Class AA this season.

On defense, seniors Easton Young (9-32-41) and Ren Morque (6-23-29) give Grand Rapids two great puck movers that can help chip in on offense.

Between the pipes, junior goaltender Myles Gunderson (2.36 goals-against-average) has shouldered most of the workload for Grand Rapids this season.
