16 Teams battle it out for CI and PI state title

Dakota battled hard Friday, but fell short. Best fans of the night were from school district 196. Let's go Hawks!

Fun-Believable!!!

Brett Kosidowski coaches the Dakota Hawks - he serves as the President of the Adapted Sports Coaches Association

A year ago I attended the State Adapted Floor Hockey state tournament in Bloomington to see Brock Faber's sister Paige play. I was told she was the "Brock Faber" of Adapted Floor Hockey.

Two truths came out of the games I saw. Paige was as good as her brother who was chosen to play for the National Development Team and more important the excitement in the gym was equal to or better than ice hockey.

We reached out the high school league and received credential to cover the event this year. Besides social media, we will do a daily recap of each division.

Physical Impairment (PI) pits players with a physical impairment. These teams have two goaltenders in wheelchairs...the game has a few more stoppages than Cognitive Impairment and more restrictive rules-wise.

Cognitive Impairment (CI) is fast paced and and very intense. Far fewer stoppages and very, very competitive. Here is what we saw with our camera and results.
