In a brief dispatch from Braemar Arena, YHH saw five games on Friday night, spanning the age groups of 2006, 2007, and 2009.

In game one, the Northern Wings 25's edged the Wisconsin Jr. Jets 3-2, a close win that puts the northern-Minnesota based team in a tentative first-place slot heading into Saturday. Joining the Northern Wings 25's atop the Pool A standings of the 2006 Red Division are the Tonka Maple Leafs, which defeated Miracle Gold 7-3 on Friday.

Danner Brekke scored the game-winning goal for the Dakota Jets in 2007 Red Division action on Friday night, as the Jets downed the Wisconsin Warriors 3-2 at Braemar. Also scoring wins in the 2007 Red Division on Friday were Tommy Chicago Green (3-0 over Miracle Black) and the Minnesota Freeze (5-2 over the Wisconsin Jr. Jets). The Freeze and Tommy Chicago Green will meet early on Saturday morning in a battle of undefeated teams.

The '06 Bakken Oilers breezed past the NW Blizzards on Braemar's South Rink, a venue that saw both of its games go into running time as the Oilers thumped the Blizzards. Like the Oilers, '06 Euro American Blue is also 1-0 after the first day of competition in the 2006 Black Division.

In the 2009 Black Division, the Wisconsin Warriors pulled off a 2-1 comeback win over Northern Elite, with Colin Black tying the game with just over three minutes to play in regulation and Jake Albert netting the game-winning goal with 59 seconds left. Luke Larson scored the lone goal of the game for '09 Northern Elite.

'05 Tommy Chicago Green capped the day in Edina with a 4-1 win over the Wisconsin Jr. Jets, withstanding a late charge in the border battle and killing a penalty for the final 1:35 of regulation. With the win, Tommy Chicago Green joins a crowded group in Pool A, with the Jr. Moose and Tommy Chicago White also earning victories in their first games.
