Saturday Rolls Along Across the Metro

YHH caught four games in Eden Prairie on Saturday, as the 2006 Red Division concludes its pool play for the weekend.

With a 5-2 win over the Wisconsin Jr. Jets, the Tonka Maple Leafs earn the No. 1 seed in Pool A with a 3-0 record and will draw Pool B No. 2 seed FCA 2006. FCA 2006 went 2-1 through Saturday, earning wins over Tommy Chicago Green and The Ville after falling on Friday to the Metro Whalers. The Maple Leafs' three wins came against Miracle Gold, the Northern Wings 25's, and the aforementioned Wisconsin Jr. Jets.

The Maple Leafs' win over the Jr. Jets featured a 3-0 start by the Maple Leafs, a partially misleading stat given the impressive play of Wisconsin goaltender Jackson Quinn, who shut down numerous odd-man chances and premium scoring opportunities before switching with the other Jr. Jets goalie midway through the game.

Taking the No. 1 seed in Pool B is the Metro Whalers, who have breezed to three straight wins as of Saturday evening. The Whalers have outscored opponents 22-3 in wins over FCA 2006, The Ville, and Tommy Chicago Green. The Northern Wings 25's will meet the Metro Whalers in the semifinals after going 2-1 through two days. The Northern Wings 25's scored wins over Miracle Gold and the Wisconsin Jr. Jets to advance to bracket play.

In the 2007 Black Division, Euro American Blue took the top spot in Pool A with a perfect 3-0 record, pulling off wins over the Minnesota Lakers Blue, the Wisconsin Jr. Stars, and an evening victory over Tommy Chicago White. Euro American Blue will face the Wisconsin Jr. Stars in a rematch during Sunday's bracket play.

With a record of 1-1-1, the Minnesota Lakers Blue earned the No. 1 seed in Pool B and will face Breakaway White in the semifinals. Breakaway White concluded Saturday with a record of 2-0-1.
