Josie St. Martin scored nearly 100 goals as a defender in less than 50 games this season.

The inaugural Sue Ring-Jarvi Girls Player of the Year Award is proudly presented to Josie St. Martin, one of the most dominant forces on the blue line in recent memory at the 12A level.

St. Martin helped the Stillwater Ponies to the state consolation title after a disappointing first-round loss, and she and the team held the state's No. 1 ranking for much of the season. Statistically, St. Martin scored 94 goals and dished out 38 assists in just 50 games, and recorded a hat-trick 12 times. The elusive double hat-trick, six goals, was achieved by Martin twice.

A passionate player who enjoys every aspect of the game, St. Martin is one of the most communicative and enthusiastic players YHH has seen all season.

The Sue Ring-Jarvi Girls Player of the Year Award is named after one of the pioneering figures in girls and women's hockey in the state's history. The Roseville native organized and played on the first University of Minnesota Women's Hockey Club Team in 1974. Ring-Jarvi, daughter of Jane Ring, another matriarch of the girls' hockey scene in Minnesota, helped form teams in Minneapolis, St Paul, Minnetonka, Hopkins, Burnsville, Mounds View, Bloomington, and Roseville.
