2005 Invite Division
Through just two games in the 2005 Invite Division, Fox Hockey and Miracle Gold lurk at the top of the standings with 1-0 records. Fox Hockey scored a 2-1 victory over the Blue Army Selects, while Miracle Gold edged the Jr. Moose 3-2. Fox Hockey and Miracle Gold meet on Saturday at 1:30 P.M. Caleb Labelle scored the game-winning goal for Fox Hockey with 5:51 left in regulation of Friday's win.
2006 Invite Division
The only team with the chance at two wins as of Saturday night, the Minnesota Lakers, failed to do so and sit at 1-1 as a result. The Lakers shut out the Minnesota Blades (Hoogsteen) 2-0 on Thursday before falling to the Upper Midwest Warriors Superior 4-1 on Friday. Evan Hoglund graced the scoresheet with a goal and an assist for UMW Superior.
Fox Hockey '06 and Fellowship of Christian Athletes engaged in an 11-goal track meet on Saturday night, with Fox Hockey coming out on top 7-4. Matthew Lysak led the way with two goals in the win for Fox Hockey '06.
2007 Invite Divison
Thanks to Cole Bumgarner's goal with 0.5 seconds remaining in the third period, IceMen Blue managed a 2-2 tie with the Wisconsin Flyers. That game was highlighted not only by Bumgarner's late-game heroics but also by impressive goaltending, as IceMen Blue's Connor Hudson's made 24 saves and Wisconsin Flyers' Eli Graf posted 19 stops. MPH '07 breezed past the Lake Superior Stars in a 7-1 win that went into running-time, powered by balanced and opportunistic play.
2008 Invite Division
High drama played out at Fogerty Ice Arena on Saturday night, with the Wisconsin Flyers slipping past the Thunder Bay Predators 6-5. Logan Ostricki knocked in a rebound with a backhand attempt late in the third period to pick up the win for the Flyers. Joining the Flyers atop the standings are the Minnesota Generals, who eased to a 7-2 win over the Northern Wings. Kyer Flanders scored twice in the win for the Generals.
2009 Invite Division
It's a shock that the ice on Brooklyn Park Community Center's Rink 1 is still frozen, considering the sparks flying in Hometown Hockey's tie with the Yuro Stars. The teams combined for 14 goals, knotting at 7-7 and setting the stage for an entertaining slate of games on Saturday. Machine Orange knocked off the Finlandia Hockey Club 5-3 in the other match held in Brooklyn Park, sending Machine Orange to the top of the standings along with the Minnesota Blades. The Blades dropped Hometown Hockey 5-1 on Thursday night.
