2005 Invite

A trio of third-period goals lifted Fox Hockey to a 5-4 win over Blue Army in the 2005 Invite Division finals, giving the program based in Ontario its second title of the day. Blue Army surged to a 3-1 lead on goals by Kyle Doll, Ashton Dahms, and Alex Gelhar during the second period, with the lone Fox Hockey tally credited to E.J. Paddington.

John Whitfield pulled Fox Hockey within one at 3-2, but Blue Army once again extended the lead two goals on Dahms' second goal of the game. Taking a 4-2 lead into the third period should have boded well for Blue Army, but Fox Hockey turned on the jets early in the final frame and scored three times in approximately six minutes to push ahead 5-4. Isaac Cain, Easton Glousher, and Owen Voortman scored during that span, and the Fox Hockey defense clamped at the right time to thwart a Blue Army comeback attempt.

Fox Hockey capped a spotless weekend with a 4-2 win over UMW Superior on Sunday evening, scoring three straight goals to pull away from the Warriors. Matthew Lysak paced Fox Hockey with a hat-trick, scoring his last two goals on a slick backhand shot and a breakaway rocket to push Fox Hockey's lead to 3-1 early in the second period.

Lucas Bertolin added Fox Hockey's fourth goal early in the third, a tally that helped Fox Hockey stave off a late charge by UMW Superior in the game's latter stages. Kody Moyer and Caleb Fires marked the scoresheet as goal-scorers for UMW Superior in the loss.

2007 Invite

Viverant '07 breezed to a 7-3 win over MPH in the 2007 Invite Division title game, giving Viverant its fourth win of the weekend. The game marked just the second time that MPH had allowed a team to score more than three goals in a game, a feat accomplished by Viverant during a 4-4 tie earlier in the tournament.

MPH's Gavin Kor turns in a highlight reel goal in Sunday's loss to Viverant '07.

2008-2009 Invite Championship Recaps

Sunday's slate was no match for the Minnesota Generals, who outscored their two opponents by a combined 15-5 in the semifinals and finals at Fogerty Ice Arena. The Generals took down the Northern Wings 6-2 in the semifinal round before sending the title game into running time during their 9-3 win over the Thunder Bay Predators. The win over the Predators avenged an earlier loss for the Generals, who were edged 4-3 by Thunder Bay on Saturday.

A scoreless first period set the stage for a wild finish, as the Minnesota Blades nearly forced overtime on multiple sequences before Machine Orange slammed the door and took home the 2009 Invite Division crown with a final score of 4-3.

Machine Orange got on the board first with a pair of goals in the second period from Chase Russ and Boone Chartier. Machine Orange carried that 2-0 advantage into the third period before goals from Reed Smith and Becker Wenkus of the Blades tied the game at 2-2.

Gavin Sattler broke the tie with a goal midway through the third period for Machine Orange, and Nick Hansen tacked on an insurance goal with 2:30 to play to push the lead to 4-2. Logan Salo pulled the Blades within one goal at 4-3 before running out of games in the game's final moments.
