Twin Cities Selects' Paxton Lee (12) rips a shot for a goal in Friday's win over the '09 Minnesota Blades.

The lone Invite division in the AAA Showdown features players in the 2008 age group, and a team made up of 2009-born players in the '09 Minnesota Blades.

Friday night featured a divisional doubleheader, with Team Chicago shutting out the Wild Ducks 2-0 and the Twin Cities Selects picking up a 3-2 win over the '09 Blades. Team Chicago, made up heavily by players from the talented '08 Team Illinois squad, took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a highlight-reel worth goal by Lukas Sajic. Sajic juked a Wild Ducks' defender before cutting across the goal mouth and going top-shelf. Colin Simpson added the second goal for Team Chicago.

In a battle that featured nine penalties, the Twin Cities Selects broke a 2-2 tie in the second period to edge the '09 Blades. Nik Anderson put TCS up 1-0 in the first period, a lead stretched to 2-0 on a goal by Marty Hirte. Whitaker Rewertz and Connor DeBoer scored less than five minutes apart in the second period to tie the score for the Blades before Paxton Lee notched the game-winner on a point-blank shot from the slot. Goaltender Aidan Finn stood on his head for TCS, stopping 21 of 23 shots in the win.

Henry Chmiel manned the blue line for the Wild Ducks on Friday night.
