Team MN, Chippewa Badgers Move to 3-0

The sun-drenched suburb of Edina played host to a handful of games of the AAA Showdown's Girls U16 Division on Saturday, where the only thing hotter than the parking lot pavement were scoreboards in Braemar Arena's West and South rinks.

Two of the four games on Saturday afternoon ended in double-digit wins for the Wisconsin Jr. Stars Silver and Tommy Chicago, as the teams scored a combined 26 goals in their wins over the Midwest Selects and the Yetis respectively. Hallie Hefel, Zephryn Jager, and Kallen Gill all notched two goals for the Jr. Stars Silver in their victory, while Tommy Chicago was paced by Kaitlin Petrich, Mackenzie Smith, and Marie Moran. All three skaters for Tommy Chicago scored twice.

TMD Gold 2022 earned a seesaw victory by the score of 8-4 over Mustangs White, moving their record to 3-0 for the tournament. TMD Gold 2022 won its previous games over the Midwest Selects and the Wisconsin Jr. Stars Silver. TMD Gold took an 8-2 lead into the final two minutes of the second period, but a pair of goals by Mustangs White at the end of the second and early in the third made for an entertaining finish.

Also extending their record to 3-0 were the Chippewa Badgers, who thrashed the Wisconsin Jr. Stars Red 7-1. Kami Krumenauer notched a hat-trick and an assist for the Badgers, with Sidney Polzin scoring two goals and Lexi Hagen and Madi Schwengler chipping in a single goal each. Morgan Mounts scored the lone goal of the loss for the Wisconsin Jr. Stars Red.

Chippewa's Madi Schwengler cracks a grin after scoring her team's seventh goal in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Wisconsin Jr. Stars Red.
