North Stars Continue To Roll In Crowded BEL

With a pair of wins on Saturday in Richfield, the North Stars have asserted themselves over the rest of the Bantam Elite League Major Division. That is, until all of the teams meet again next week.

The North Stars won their first game of the day in conventional fashion, scoring a 6-3 win over Team Wisconsin. Zam Plante led the way in game one with two goals for the North Stars. Game two marked the scoresheet 14 times in total, as the North Stars proved they could win in a purely offensive battle. Plante again was the lightning rod, scoring two goals and tallying three assists for five points. Tory Lund earned Player of the Game honors for the North Stars with two goals and an assist, while Max Roby chipped in two goals of his own in the win.

After entering the game below the .500 mark, the North Stars now find themselves just one point back of the league-leading Sharks, Penguins, and Team Wisconsin.

The Sharks picked up their second loss of the BEL season on Saturday, falling to Team North Dakota in a dramatic shootout in the first game of the day. Both of the Sharks' losses so far have come in a shootout.

With a resounding 8-3 win over the Rangers, the Penguins earned their fifth win in six games, powered on the scoresheet by Eli Miller's goal and two assists. Goaltender Ryan Wallin stopped 31 of 34 shots in the win for the Penguins.

Team Wisconsin rebounded on Saturday with a 5-1 win over Team North Dakota, simultaneously re-inflating itself while poking North Dakota's balloon of momentum with a thumbtack. Quinn Finley, Team Wisconsin's leading scorer and one of the top point-getters in the league, scored a goal and added two assists in the win over Team North Dakota. The victory keeps Team Wisconsin tied for the league lead with 14 points.

Knotted with the North Stars with 13 total points in the standings are the Kings, who apparently have adopted a Big 12 Conference football mentality when it comes to defense. The Kings allowed 15 goals throughout their two games on Saturday, an 8-6 win over the upstart Rangers and a 9-5 loss to the North Stars. With 13 goals of their own on Saturday, someone from the Kings had to cash in statistically, and the duo of Landen Gunderson and Gavyn Thoreson took full advantage. With a scoreboard that lit up like an Atlantic City pinball machine in both of the Kings' games, Gunderson and Thoreson racked up seven points over the two contests. The dynamic forwards are tied for the team's lead in scoring at 19 points.

Dawson McCann scored in the shootout to lift Team North Dakota to a win over the Sharks on Saturday morning.

Zam Plante scored twice to help the North Stars to a 6-3 win over Team Wisconsin on Saturday.

Mario Savino, Wisconsin

Ty Tuccitto notched a goal in Saturday's win for the Penguins.
