Team Pink celebrates after defeating Team Green 7-2 in the Red and Black Fall League championship.
The Red and Black South Fall High School League's Division I championship came down to the paper.
As in, the No. 1 seed and No. 2 seed met in the finals, and top-seeded Team Pink downed Team Green, as they had in the teams' two other meetings this fall.
Pink jumped out to a 4-0 lead early in the first half, paced by goals from Trent Bowe, Michael Doshan, Mitch Krebsbach, and Aiden Mjelstad. Krebsbach's goal was his 17th, which ranks in the league's top-10 for scorers. Connor Nelson put Green on the board with 39 seconds left in the first half to send the game into the second frame at 4-1.
Mjelstad extended Pink's lead to 5-1 early in the second, putting Green back on its heels and turning the game into a one-sided affair. Nelson's second goal of the game for Green was inconsequential, as Green took poorly-timed penalties to give Pink a five-on-three advantage for nearly two full minutes. While Pink failed to score on the power play, the league-leader ate valuable time off the clock.
Jackson Studebaker and Doshan added Pink's sixth and seventh goals for good measure late in the second, sealing the win and the title for Pink.
Jackson Studebaker scores for Team Pink in Tuesday night's game.
