Some of YHH's favorite memories and moments from this past weekend in Osseo and Maple Grove.

2019 Danglefest Highlight Video

Andover, Osseo-Maple Grove Reach Top of Heap

While Andover and Osseo-Maple Grove earned the top spots in the 12A and 10A levels respectively, those championships aren't the only moments that stick out from this year's Danglefest. This tournament's "Best Of" includes a slushy, a Frank Brimsek Award winner, and a true family business behind the Blaine/Spring Lake Park 12A bench.

Best Atmosphere

The winner of this category could also be the best game of the tournament, as Alexandria and Andover went skate-to-skate for three periods in Maple Grove. Alexandria's Rachael Mohr shut down scoring chance after scoring chance for the Cardinals, while the Huskies demonstrated just how dominant they could be when they're rolling. The scoreboard may have read 3-1 in favor of Andover in the end, but the Cardinals proved they could compete with anyone in the state at the 12A level.

Best Coaching Trio

Keeping within the Blaine/Spring Lake Park theme, the tournament's top coaching trio is a member of the Wildcat family. Head coach Katie Van Asch stands behind the 12A Wildcat bench, while husband Luke Van Asch and father Burch Horner flank her on both sides as assistants. Throughout the tournament, these three demonstrated patience and enthusiasm with their group of athletes.

Best Co-Operative Program

Osseo and Maple Grove have lived in virtual harmony for the past few years, building into a dominant force that seemingly competes for state titles at multiple levels every year.

But this year's Danglefest featured two teams from the Blaine/Spring Lake Park girl's co-op program, and the Wildcats showed well in Osseo and Maple Grove. The 12A Wildcats went 3-2 in five games, while the 10A team advanced to the championship before falling to Osseo-Maple Grove.

Fargo 10A won a pair of games at this weekend's Danglefest tournament.

Best Concessions Stand Moment

The YHH tournament highlight videos are filled with moments that make a youth hockey tournament not only a batch of games but an event that brings players and parents together to make memories for years to come.

Some of those moments include footage from local concessions stands, like coffee being poured, or the perfect amount of ketchup being layered onto a hot dog. This time around, the slushy machine got into the action, as our 4K camera caught a beautiful sequence that resulted in a fabulous blue raspberry/lemonade semi-frozen treat.

Best Flashback

After capturing a pair of pictures showing the celebration between Blaine/Spring Lake Park 10A skaters Sammy Kelzenberg and Olive Huegel, a certain Frank Brimsek Award winner shared the tweet with a comment. Who could it have been? None other than the 1995 winner Todd Kelzenberg, who backstopped the Blaine boys' high school team before playing for Minnesota State.

Best Profile Pic

Taking player profile pictures is a fairly mundane task that takes a few moments prior to each team's first game at a YHH tournament. We've seen our share of fun moments as a result. But none more fun than when Madison Schwartz from Alexandria stepped up with her Space Buns hairstyle and the whole team collapsed in laughter.
