When it comes to Minnesota hockey State Tournament performances, skaters get remembered, but goalies never die.
Mahtomedi’s Ben Dardis, still just a sophomore, posted a 6-0 record and a save percentage of .956 in the postseason to lead the Zephyrs to the program’s first Class A state championship, knocking off No. 1 seed Warroad in the State Tournament semifinal round and third-seeded Hermantown in the finals. For his efforts, Dardis was named at the Wells Fargo Class A All-Tournament Team and will be cemented in the collective memory of Minnesota hockey fans for years to come.
The 5-foot-8 Dardis went 23-8 in his second year as the Zephyrs’ primary goaltender and recorded a goals-against-average of 2.03, a cumulative save percentage of .933 and seven shutouts.
Dardis played nearly every minute in goal this season, finishing with over 1,500 minutes between the pipes. For his (in progress) career, Dardis has earned 36 wins.
Mahtomedi's Ben Dardis played all but a handful of minutes in goal this season for the Zephyrs.
