2021 Gobbler Best Of's

Best Attitude

The St. Louis Park Bantam B team came to the rescue of the shortest of notices before the Gobbler, taking the place of a team unable to participate less than 24 hours before the tournament was slated to start.

While the Orioles may not have finished with any marks in the win column, the black-and-orange could not have been more gracious guests, and did not suffer any of their four losses by more than three goals, including a pair of one-goal thrillers in their first two games.

Best Dressed

Despite a disappointing end to Shakopee Bantam B's run during the Gobbler, the Sabers' coaches came dressed to impress on Sunday. Finishing second in their pool cemented the Sabers' place in a consolation game on Sunday, which tend to veer toward the don't-really-care side of the emotion spectrum during tournaments.

Not so for the Bench Bosses from Shakopee.

A white jacket worn correctly (shown below) is always a winner, while the impeccably tailored plaid would put most Savile Row shops to shame.

Best Jersey

The merger of the Mounds View and Irondale youth associations is nothing new, but the two teams' combined uniform is a sure bet to warm the hearts of other combo organizations.

With Mounds View boasting a Mustang mascot and the Knights of Irondale filled with their own maroon-and-goal pride, the youth associations compromised on the Maverick nickname. "Mavericks" adorned the MVI Peewee B team's jerseys during the Gobbler weekend and should serve as a reminder that in hockey, the team is more important than the individual.

Best Rink Staff

With several people on-site and an ingenious method concerning entrances and exits, the Richfield Ice Arena staff takes home the Most Valuable Rink Staff title. Having multiple doors for departures helps, but the Richfield staff's polite nature and positive attitudes made the weekend all the more enjoyable for fans and players alike.

Best Team Spirit

More people mess with Texas than they do Forest Lake.
The Ranger moms came out in force during the Gobbler, clad in Ranger spirit wear and armed with pom-poms, made themselves heard from Richfield to Bloomington.

Forest Lake may have finished second in the Peewee B Division, but their fans forever rank No. 1 in YHH hearts.

The Shakopee Bantam B coaches were an easy choice for "Best Dressed."
