A breakdown of the HP 16, 17/18 process.

HP 16, 17/18 moves on to Final 54 stage

Section 5 went 3-0 to earn the top spot in the standings in the HP 16 Division, beating out Section 8 (2-0-0-1) and both Section 4 and Section 2, which each finished the weekend with a record of 2-1.

Breck standout and Minnesota commit Ava Lindsay led Section 5 in scoring with four goals and seven points, followed by Centennial's Lauren O'Hara's three goals and six points and Maple Grove product Stella Retrum's two goals and five points. Lindsay and O'Hara both ranked as the HP 16 Division's overall leading scorers.

Holy Family Catholic's Maddy Helmstetter paced Section 2 with three goals and four points to lead her team to a sparkling 3-0 mark in the HP 17/18 Division. Section 7 finished second with two wins and an overtime loss, and Section 6 and Section 5 each went 2-1 in their three games.

Rosemount's Whitney Tuttle of Section 3 led all skaters in scoring with five goals and eight points. Andover's Isa Goettl and Burnsville's Sami Bowlby were right behind Tuttle in the scoring pecking order with five points each.

High Schoolers capture gold in Omaha

Premier Prep Forest ran the table in Omaha to earn the 2021 USA Hockey Girls High School national championship.

Being knocked out of the section playoffs early as the top seed is never a good feeling, but for a handful of Burnsville high school players, winning a national championship helps assuage the pain of missing out on the state tournament.

Blaze skaters Katie Katzmarek and Zoie Dundon, among others, led Premier Prep Forest to this year's USA Hockey Girls High School national championship, swatting away opponents en route to a 5-0 record. Premier Prep Forest outscored its opposition by a combined tally of 38-7 over its five games, led by Katzmarek's stunning 17 goals and 21 points. Dundon finished as Premier Prep Forest's second-leading scorer with six goals and 12 points.

Fortunately for Premier Prep Forest, the first game was its closest, as PPF edged the HPHL Polar Bears 5-3. Next were victories over Wyoming 13-0 and the Wisconsin Blackcats 5-1, followed by a 9-1 win over Anchorage (AK). PPF topped the Blackcats once again in the final by a score of 6-2.

Burnsville's Katie Katzmarek rubs out Lakeville South's Claire Enright along the boards during a game last season. Katzmarek netted 17 goals in five games for national champion Premier Prep Forest.
