Jake Schneider 
2020-2021 Team: Wayzata 
College commitment: Colgate 

A "late" riser in the recruiting process, Schneider took full advantage of his time in the Upper Midwest High School Elite League last fall, scoring 10 goals and totaling 17 points for TDS Transportation. After recording 19 points in 26 games last season for Wayzata, Schneider paced the Trojans with 19 goals and 31 points in 2020-2021.

In addition to Schneider, Minnesotans that have signed with Colgate for the upcoming 2021-2022 season include fellow Wayzata product Tommy Bergsland and former Holy Angels standout, Owen Neuharth. St. Thomas Academy forward Jared Wright is slated to join the Raiders for the 2022-2023 campaign. Orono product Nick Anderson is the lone returning Minnesota native from Colgate's roster last season after Nick Austin graduated. 

Blaine Warnert
2020-2021 Team: Minot (NAHL)
College commitment: St. Thomas 

Standing at 6-foot-5 and 190 pounds, the former Nebraska Omaha commit should provide some muscle as a power forward for the new Division I men's program at St. Thomas. 

After racking up 27 goals and 43 points in his senior season at Chaska, Warnert skated with the USHL's Des Moines Buccaneers for 45 games during the 2019-2020 season and then appeared in 54 games for the NAHL's Minot Minotauros this year, tallying 19 goals and 30 points. Minot fell to Aberdeen in five games during the Robertson Cup Playoffs to end their season.

Fellow Minnesotans Luke Kron (continue reading) and Tim Piechowski are also committed to the Tommies. 

Charlie Stramel 
2020-2021 Team: USNTDP Under-17 
College commitment: Wisconsin 

A Rosemount product who impressed as a freshman in his lone high school season, Stramel is listed at 6-foot-3, 216 pounds, indicating a college hockey-ready body that still has some room (and time) to fill out. 

Stramel notched 13 goals and 28 points for the NTDP U-17's last season and helped his 2023 NHL Draft cause with a two-goal, four-point performance in five games at the 2021 U-18 World Junior Championships. 

Also listed as committed to Wisconsin but have yet to suit up for the Badgers are Nick Pierre, Joe Palodichuk, Shane Lavelle, and Ben Helgeson. Pierre, Palodichuk, and Helgeson each skated for Hill-Murray during their prep careers, while Lavelle is a former Chaska standout. 

Mason Wheeler
2020-2021 Team: Tri-City Storm (USHL) 
College commitment: Minnesota State 

Wheeler spent four seasons patrolling the blueline for Rosemount, serving as an assistant captain her junior year and earning the 'C' as a senior. Wheeler appeared in 102 games for the Irish, totaling 15 goals and 66 points. A steady defender with solid skating ability, Wheeler got his first taste of junior hockey this past season with the USHL's Tri-City Storm, recording a goal and seven points in 42 games.

Stillwater's Adam Eisele, Blaine's Will Hillman, Chase Hamstad of White Bear Lake, and Rochester Century's Bennett Zmolek have also pledged to the Mavericks. 

Luke Kron 
2020-2021 Team: Minnesota Magicians 
College commitment: St. Thomas 

Kron's season is still ongoing (although he was injured for his team's last two games) at the time of this article's publishing date, as the Minnesota Magicians have advanced far enough in the Robertson Cup Playoffs to be counted among the final eight squads. 

The forward with a tireless motor has six goals and 21 points so far for the Magicians after scoring 17 goals and adding 28 assists in 27 games his senior year at Andover. He was one of the key cogs on a Huskies team that made the boys hockey program's first Class AA State Tournament appearance.

Kron could join the Tommies as soon as the 2022-2023 season.
