Two more Minnesotan defenders give the Mavericks six State of Hockey natives on the blueline.


Taylor Otremba totaled an impressive 89 goals and 181 points during her five-year career at Lakeville South High School.

Hometown: Lakeville 
2021-2022 Team: Lakeville South

Otremba played five seasons for Lakeville South, totaling 89 goals and 181 points for the Cougars. After helping the Cougars reach the Class AA State Tournament as an eighth-grader in 2018, Otremba was named All-State in 2020 and finished with 24 goals and 58 points during her senior season in 2021-2022. She wrapped up her prep career with 121 games played for the Lakeville South program. 

Lilie Ramirez 
Hometown: South St. Paul 
2021-2022 Team: South St. Paul

Ramirez is an outstanding offensive defender who notched 48 goals and 146 points in five seasons in a top-four role for South St. Paul's storied girls' hockey program under legendary coach Dave Palmquist. 

Ramirez was a two-time All-State selection in her time with the Packers, skating in 134 career games. As a senior, Ramirez led the Packers to the Class A State Tournament consolation championship, scoring 16 goals and adding 28 assists for a career-high 44 points.  


Lilie Ramirez spent five seasons on the South St. Paul blueline, leading the team to last year's Class A State Tournament consolation championship.

Kianna Roeske 
Hometown: Paynesville
2021-2022: River Lakes

Roeske is a puck-moving maestro who racked up 31 goals last season as a defender for the River Lakes co-op program. Roeske's 31 goals led the state in scoring by a defender as she led the Stars to last year's Class A State Tournament.

For her efforts last year, Roeske was named the St. Cloud Times Girls Hockey Player of the year. For her career, Roeske totaled 75 goals and 151 points in five seasons on the Stars' blueline.

With the addition of Ramirez and Roeske, the Maverick defensive corps includes six Minnesota natives.  

Whitney Tuttle 
Hometown: Rosemount 
2021-2022 Team: Rosemount

A rare six-season varsity player, Tuttle recorded six points during Rosemount's 2016-2017 season. Fast-forward to the 2021-2022 season, and Tuttle leaves the Irish as one of the program's all-time leading scorers. 

Tuttle exploded for 39 goals (tied for twelfth in the state) and 71 points during her senior campaign, leading the Irish to the Class AA, Section 3 finals before falling to Burnsville. 

A four-time South Suburban All-Conference award winner, Tuttle concluded her prep career with 121 goals and 214 points. Tuttle was named the 2022 St. Paul Pioneer Press Metro Girls Hockey Player of the Year.
