Section 1AA stays chalk, some closer-than-expected scores from 3AA, and a special night for the Winona girls' program.

Section 1AA

An eight-goal second period powered Lakeville North to a 14-0 win over Rochester Mayo in the quarterfinals, with Gracie Hanson and Addie Bowlby combining for 16 points in the win. Hanson finished the game with seven assists, while Bowlby tallied six goals.

A junior forward, Hanson recorded her 100th career point for the Panthers on an assist in last night's game.

Northfield scored three times in the third period to pull away from No. 5 seed Farmington, led by Emerson Garlie's two goals and an assist in the final frame. The Raiders will now face No. 1 seed Lakeville South in the section semifinals on Saturday.

A 51-save performance from Rochester Century's Abigail Conners was no match for an eight-goal outburst by Owatonna, as the Huskies rode four-point performances by Izzy Radel and Samantha Bogen to an 8-2 victory.

The hat trick was the first in her high school career for Radel. The junior forward had scored two goals in three separate contests this season before breaking through for the HATTY in last night's game.

The No. 3 seed Huskies will now face second-seeded Lakeville North.

Addie Bowlby (shown here playing in this fall's High School Girls Elite League) racked up six goals in the Lakeville North's win over Rochester Mayo.

Section 3AA

Top-seeded Apple Valley got a hat trick (including an empty-netter) from Makayla Moran on Wednesday night, finishing off an upset-minded Hastings squad for a 4-1 quarterfinal win.

Bree Balster made 34 saves for the No. 8 seed Raiders in the loss, undone by the two goals from Moran and a single tally by Avery Ryan. Two-year Apple Valley starting goaltender Taylor Cozy earned the win over her former program with 15 saves.

It was as easy as three, two, three on Wednesday night for Cretin-Derham Hall, as the fourth-seeded Raiders scored three times in the first, twice in the second, and three more times in the third to hand No. 5 seed Park of Cottage Grove an 8-2 loss.

Sophomore twins Hope and Stella Hadac turned the opening period into their personal showcase, as Hope scored twice and Stella scored once to spot the Raiders a 3-1 lead after the first. Stella would add a second goal in the second period to match her sister. Abigail Broz totaled a goal and four points for the Raiders to lead all skaters.

CDH freshman goaltender Grace Kemp has stopped 63 of 68 shots over her last two games, and has made 20 or more saves in 12 straight contests.

Well, that was a little close for comfort.

Second-seeded Rosemount needed two third-period goals to eke out a 2-0 win over No. 7 seed Eagan last night, including an empty-netter by Anna ShandorfCece Hanson was the first goal-scorer on the night for the Irish, who lucked out (get it?) with the Wildcats going 0-3 on the power play and getting a 31-save shutout from Natalie Kendhammer.

UPSET TIME.

No. 6 seed Eastview edged No. 3 seed Metro-South, ending any hope for an Irony Bowl between the Phoenix and Apple Valley in the section championship game.

No box score has been provided yet, and neither team's Twitter account tweeted during the game, so for now...Eastview got two goals from Eastview, and Eastview made a mystery number of saves in the win over the Phoenix. Someone scored the lone goal for Metro-South in the loss.

Freshman Grace Kemp has won nine games this season for the Raiders.

Section 1A

Winona slipped past Austin 4-1 for the program's first playoff win in nine years while earning the right to face top-seeded Dodge County in Saturday's semifinal round.

Kasja Kovala tallied two goals and an assist for the Winhawks, with one goal apiece coming from Kelsi Rose and Asta Griggs. According to the MN Girls' Hockey Hub boxscores, Aliya Gricius stopped 31 of 32 shots in the win, although a local newspaper reported that Gricius made 17 saves on 19 shots.

Sarah Wangen scored the lone goal for Austin in the loss, her team-leading 24th of the season.
