This week we roll out the Top 10 teams and Fargo Squirt A picks

"I WISH EVERY DAY WAS LIKE FARGO"

Fargo pin, 2011

With playoffs underway at every level in the state, we posted our final Boys and Girls rankings last Monday. Squirt and U10 play continues into early March, so we built a special Squirt set for the A and B boys and girls this week.

We also spent some time breaking down the action this weekend in Fargo for the Fargo Squirt International A division.

Twelve years ago, my family spent the weekend chasing my 10 year old son to Fargo. Three nights of parties in the same hotel with A and B families from our association.  Eating out, pin trading and exciting hockey all weekend prompted my son to say, "I wish every day was like Fargo."

Don't we all, son.

Duluth sweeps through D11 knocking off Cloquet and Hermantown. The Hunter Hounds move up to #8.  Moorhead Red trips STMA from their #2 slot with a nice win Sunday.

Centennial-SLP wins D10 yesterday.  Wins over two top-10 teams vaulted the "Cats" into the top five this week.

Woodbury Black is the new No. 1 team in SQB, and the Predators won the Fargo SQB tournament this past weekend. Armstrong Cooper is up to No. 2 this week, as their only loss in Fargo was to a team from Ontario. Cloquet Black enters the rankings at No. 7, and the Lumberjacks are 23-1-1. Mahtomedi is ranked at No. 10 this week, and the Zephyrs have won 10 of their last 11 games.

Hopkins/Park lost their first game all season this past week- that loss isn’t enough to knock them off the No. 1 spot. Elk River moves up one place this week to No. 4 as the Elks are outscoring opponents 177-30 on the season. Grand Rapids/Greenway Orange enters the rankings at T-10 this week; knocking off No. 1 Hopkins/Park propels them into the rankings.

Fargo International Picks

Can Jefferson go from Gold bracket champs in Squirtacular to a deep run in Fargo?

We took a look at the brackets from Fargo and it breaks down pretty simple by letter in the alphabet. Pool A winner plays B, C plays D, etc.

The top half of the bracket has four really good teams: Grand Rapids, CC, Duluth and Edina Green. The bottom ain't half bad either with four of their own: Blaine, Woodbury, East Grand Forks and Moorhead Red.

Should be a fun weekend. Stay tune to YHH Twitter for updates throughout the weekend.

*Littleton is a sleeper team, careful Edina. No thank you facing Eden Prairie, they can put up big numbers in a hurry.

Bengals can strike at any time!

Pool I - Blaine*
Pool J - Cloquet*
Pool K - Woodbury
Pool L - Minnetonka
