2023 BHS Player of the Year - Jayson Shaugabay

While Shaugabay's Warriors fell just short of their ultimate goal in Saturday's Class A state championship game, his performance this season has been nothing short of exceptional.

Shaugabay set career-highs in goals with (33), assists (63), and points (96) while leading the Warriors to a sparkling 29-1-1 record during the 2022-2023 season. Before the high school season, Shaugabya averaged nearly one point per game in the USHL, recording nine assists and 10 points in 14 games for the Green Bay Gamblers.

For his career, Shaugabay totaled 114 goals and 304 points, joining the rarified air of Minnesota high school hockey's 300-point club, including Dave Spehar and Johnny Pohl. Team-wise, Shaugabay helped the Warriors to three Class A State Tournament appearances in his four varsity seasons, including two appearances in the state championship game.

The Minnesota Duluth commit was named Mr. Hockey on Sunday afternoon.
