Each summer, a small army of middle school hockey players descends on the University of Minnesota campus for four days of rambunctious activity, ranging from kickball to art projects to a magician and, of course, hockey.

Over 140 campers participated this season in the NOW Prospects Combine, the tenth year of the event. And despite a brief interlude due to construction projects and COVID-19 that sent the Combine to North Dakota, the Mariucci ice was once again graced by the next generation of Minnesota hockey talent.

Among the girls, Maroon emerged victorious over Gold in the championship game, with single goals scored by Emerson DeMuth, Dana Madsen, and Olivia Anthony. In goal, Reese Kvasager and Elise Kelly combined for the sparkling shutout.

Grey pulled away in the third-place game for a 7-1 win over White, paced by two goals each from Stella Kramer and Elliana Mattson. Brooklyn Troumbly, Lindsey Lorenson, and Kinsley Summers also scored for Grey, while Avery Moe dished out three assists, and Kendal Starkey chipped in a pair of helpers. Claire Sommerfeld scored the lone goal of the game for White.

Overall, Maroon's Emerson DeMuth and Grey's Lindsey Lorenson led the Girls' camp in scoring with six points apiece. DeMuth finished with three goals and three assists, and Lorenson scored times and added two assists.

Emerson DeMuth tied with Lindsey Lorenson for the scoring lead in this year's Girls' division of the NOW Prospects Combine.

Undeterred by a slow start on the ice, Maroon hung with Grey until the very end, but two late goals from Grey's Matthew Tranby and Owen Kraft iced a 6-4 victory for Grey in the third-place game.  Kraft's empty-netter was his second of the contest.

In addition to Kraft and Tranby, Jacob Anderson scored twice for Grey, and Tyler Wick added a single tally. Will Thonvold scored two goals and added an assist for Maroon. Max Swenson and Jackson May each scored once for Maroon in the loss.

In front of a (nearly) sellout crowd, White topped Gold 5-2 in the Boys' championship game. Five different players scored in the finale for Gold, with Lucas Becker, Hank Laurila, Ayden Brager, Blake Schmitt, and James Patrick Tucker tickling the twine. Nicholas Baranivsky and Cooper Green each scored once in the loss for Gold.

Moorhead's Owen Kraft led the Boys' field in scoring with seven goals and nine points while leading Grey to a third-place finish.

With seven goals and nine points, Moorhead native Owen Kraft led the Boys' division in scoring.
