Maya Engler, No. 7-2A Andover
1. Centennial/Spring Lake Park (10-0)
A routine 7-0 win over Anoka was followed by a 2-1 overtime win over conference and section rival Maple Grove, which spoiled an outstanding 48-save performance by Crimson goaltender Bella Prosser. Teagan Kulenkamp scored the game-winner in the fourth period for the Cougars.
2. Hill-Murray (9-1)
After a 6-0 win over Rosemount and a 9-0 win over Two Rivers/St. Paul, the Pioneers have now won their last four games by a combined score of 27-2. The Pioneers will now face Andover before joining some of the state’s top teams for the Silverback Shootout in St. Louis Park, hosted by Benilde-St. Margaret’s.
3. Minnetonka (9-1-1)
The Skippers ran their winning streak to six games over the last week, topping North Wright County 3-0 (which feels like the most Riverhawks’ score ever) and a 2-0 win over visiting Moorhead. Prior Lake and Champlin Park/Coon Rapids are on deck this week for Minnetonka.
4. Edina (8-2)
Three games, three wins for the Hornets. Edina beats Eden Prairie 3-1, Farmington 7-0, and top Class A squad Holy Angels 5-3. The Hornets also have the distinction of being the only team in the top 10 (to my knowledge) close to having every player on the roster with at least one point. Currently, 14 of 16 players on the roster have recorded points for the Hornets.
5. Benilde-St. Margaret’s (7-1-1)
BSM edged Andover 2-1 and Bemidji 3-1 last week, making it officially one month since the Red Knights have tasted the bitterness of defeat. Dates with Wayzata and Waconia are on the calendar before the Silverback Shootout.
6. Holy Family (9-2)
The Fire took care of business since the last set of rankings, defeating Prior Lake, Gentry Academy, and Rock Ridge by a combined score of 17-1. The Fire will take on Edina this week before beginning a stretch that includes seven ranked opponents across both Class AA and Class A. Safe to say the Fire will be battle-tested by the time the section playoffs come around.
7. Andover (6-4)
The Huskies bounced back after the previously mentioned 2-1 loss to No. 5-2A Benilde-St. Margaret’s with a 3-1 win over visiting Warroad, giving the Huskies two wins in three games. St. Thomas commit Maya Engler has caught fire over the last week, totaling three goals and seven points in Andover’s last three games.
8. Moorhead (7-3-1)
Moorhead has won three of its last four games, and the Spuds stay ahead of Roseau this week after shutting out the Rams at the Moorhead Sports Center. Those games included a win over new top-10 Class A team Blake and a 2-0 loss to No. 3-2A Minnetonka.
9. Roseau (9-3)
The Rams were shut out on the road against likely Section 8-2A finals opponent Moorhead but rebounded with a 3-2 win over Brainerd/Little Falls on Saturday. Forwards Jasmine Hovda and Payton Remick surpassed the 150-point mark for their careers over the last week.
10. Champlin Park/Coon Rapids (7-4)
CP/CR picked up two wins last week, downing Osseo/Park Center 4-1 and Elk River 7-0. The Bluebirds will face Northwest Suburban Conference rival Blaine and No. 3-2A Minnetonka before competing in the Kaposia Classic in South St. Paul after the holiday.
Peyton Remick, No. 9-2A Roseau
Janie McGawn, Blake
1. Warroad (7-2)
The Warriors return to the No. 1 spot in Class A thanks to Dodge County’s loss to previously unranked Blake. Last week, the Warriors beat East Grand Forks 7-1 before losing on the road to No. 7-2A Andover. The Warriors will face No. 8-2A Moorhead on Dec. 21 before hosting Crookston, Albert Lea, and Mound Westonka/Southwest Christian in the Hockeytown Holiday Classic.
2. Holy Angels (8-2-1)
Also a beneficiary of the Dodge County loss, the Stars move to No. 2 with a 6-1 win over Bloomington Jefferson, a 6-0 shutout of Chaska/Chanhassen, and a tight 5-3 loss to No. 4-2A Edina. Taylor Lesnar has emerged as the catalyst for the Stars’ offense, recording four goals and eight points in last week’s games.
3. Dodge County (7-1-1)
Losing to an unranked team hurts, but keep in mind that the Wildcats’ lone loss of the season (to date) was by a single goal and came against one of the state’s top netminders in Blake’s Janie McGawn. The Wildcats have proven themselves against top competition and can’t be dinged too hard for a 1-0 loss.
4. Orono (8-2-2)
The Spartans picked up an easy 7-0 win over Waconia last week. The next six games provide much more intrigue, as Orono will take on ranked Class 2A or Class 1A opponents in each contest.
5. Mound Westonka/Southwest Christian (6-3)
The Whitehawks eased past previous No. 9-1A South St. Paul 4-1 and Pine City Area 7-3 last week. MWSWC has now won five of its last seven games and is +10 (13-3) in the third period of games this season.
6. Proctor/Hermantown (10-3)
The first of the Class 1A ranked teams to reach 10 wins, the Mirage beat Hibbing/Chisholm 9-0 and South St. Paul 5-1 over the last week. The Mirage has won eight of its previous nine and will take on Cloquet-Esko-Carlton, Brainerd/Little Falls, and No. 6-2A Holy Family this week.
7. Blake (6-4)
The Bears upset previously top-ranked Dodge County last week and took Moorhead to the mattresses in a 2-0 loss. Janie McGawn continues to make a case to be known as the state’s top goaltender, posting a 27-save shutout in the win over the Wildcats and stopping 38 of 40 shots against the Spuds.
8. Albert Lea (9-1)
The Tigers edged rival Northfield in overtime last week 4-3 and will play the Raiders again on Tuesday. The rematch features two teams that combined for 15 penalties in the first meeting, and fireworks could be in store for round two.
9. Breck (7-3)
The Mustangs squeaked past Delano/Rockford 5-4 before being thumped by Rosemount 5-1 to split for the week. The Mustangs allowed three goals in the third period against the Irish, and the loss snapped a five-game winning streak.
10. Marshall (13-0)
Brooklyn Mauch joined Krissy Wendell-Pohl and Shelby Venkeer as the only players in girls’ high school hockey history to record 11 points in a single game in a 14-2 win over Windom last week. The Tigers will host Eden Prairie on Tuesday (Dec. 17) in a quality barometer of just how good the Tigers are this season.

Chaska Chan prevails over Edina Green on Tuesday to lay claim to the top spot in the state. If my intuition is right, this won't be the last we've heard of Edina this year.
Buffalo takes the Star of the North six teamer and Wayzata grabbed some (rathe nice looking) hardware in Moorhead. The Trojans have only one loss on the year.

Not too many changes at the 15B level this week, as the top six teams all stay the same. No. 1 Alexandria added to their impressive season, winning the Star of the North Tournament in Grand Rapids this weekend. Hermantown and Osseo/Maple Grove (Black) are both additions to this week's rankings.

OMG wins its home tourney - the Leafbirds went 6-0 on the week. They have won 16 in a row and are set to face Edina next Sunday at home.
Forest Lake jumps up in the rankings this week with a 4-0 mark. The Rangers have only lost one game in the last 13 games.
Summer Adams (pictured) and Edina Black picked up four wins in five games last week.

The Mustangs are added into the rankings at No. 8.
