From the moment he was born, Bayden Dean was probably destined to be a competitive menace.
Brayden is the son of two members of the Mayville State Athletic Hall of Fame. Dad Rich is in for baseball, and mom Dana primarily for volleyball, although she also lettered for four seasons in basketball. Brayden’s the brother of two accomplished athletes, older brothers Cameron and Dylan. Cameron has captained the Holy Family Catholic varsity hockey and baseball teams, and will play collegiate baseball for the University of Minnesota-Crookston next year. Dylan will likely join the USHL’s Sioux City Musketeers next season, and is verbally committed to the University of Maine.
Growing up (and still growing) in an environment of constant motion and achievement has obviously rubbed off on Brayden, who is this year’s Wiz Wyatt Award winner for his accomplishments on the ice, the baseball diamond, and in the classroom at Breakaway Academy. In addition to playing multiple positions for the OMGAA Triple-A baseball program, Dean maintains a 3.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
This hockey season, Dean led the Osseo-Maple Grove Peewee AA team to a record of 50-9-1, totaling (in games tracked by GameSheet) 97 goals and 163 points during the 2024-2025 season. Dean and the Leafbirds fell just short in the Peewee AA state championship game in March, losing to Minnetonka 4-3 in overtime. Dean led all Leafbirds in scoring with four goals and six points during the state tournament.
