Audrey Nichols - Chaska/Chanhassen

As Audrey Nichols entered the Youth Hockey Hub office for her award presentation, it became apparent that the polish she shows on the ice extends to all her endeavors. Nichols, who seemingly always makes the right play during games, showed up ready for any question thrown her way, carrying a full page of notes.

That preparedness likely had a hand in helping the Stormhawks to a sparkling 45-6-1 record this season, with five of the six losses coming by two goals or fewer. The Stomhawks took home the top hardware from all four tournaments they entered this season, winning championships at the Moose Goheen, Girls Super Chill, Danglefest Invitational, and St. Luke’s Icebreaker Invitational.

That run of tourney success included a 15A State Tournament championship in March, the first state title won by a Chaska/Chanhassen Hockey Association girls’ team in the co-op’s history. Nichols led the state tournament field in scoring with three goals and 10 points.

Just weeks after winning it all in Minnesota, Nichols helped the Minnesota Lakers to a semifinal appearance at the Girls Tier I 14U National Tournament, leading the team to a 4-1 record with seven goals. Against some of the best players in the country, Nichols’ seven goals ranked first among all skaters.
